Growing up in a very close-knit family, suppertime was something
we shared together, all at the same time.
More than the food we had on the table, this time of day was
always a meeting of sorts. Through the years, we told each other
stories, narrated every detail of how our day went by, what made us
jump with joy or cry in frustration.
The four walls of our kitchen remained witness to every crazy idea
we have ever concocted, every family drama and triumph. If these
walls could talk, we would be reminded about every detail of that
forgotten vacation we had from long time ago, or how we settled
that petty misunderstanding, which caused great tension in the
family for several days.
Years went by, everyone grew up and lead different lives, and
though we may have forgotten so much of the past, in our hearts
remain the promise of one day coming back home…
I cannot say exactly when Mikaylakitchen ever began. Mother always
dreamed of a place where she and we, her children, would go back
home to. Distance may not allow us to do so for now. But then,
the heart does not believe so, for that’s mere geography.
Everything we have on this site represents a piece of our family’s
legacy. This is mother’s dream; a beautiful story unfolding right
before our eyes.
